VF-1000: Adjust voltage on power supply for display
Potential Symptoms
- Adjust the DC output voltage of a power supply.
- Change the output voltage on a power supply.
Environment
- Product Family: Transportation
- Product: VF-1000 Vanguard Display (GEN 1 sign type)
- Component: Power supply
Resolution
- Turn power off at the breaker panel for all power supplies to be adjusted in the electrical bay where the failed power supply is located.
- Remove the RED wire TB2-3 (the larger red wire next to the larger black wire on the larger connector block) from all power supplies in that bay, except the power supply that needs adjusting, then reapply power (turn the breaker back on).
- Use the potentiometer on the power supply to adjust the output voltage to voltage parameters per contract. (is the green LED lit up?)
- Turn power off at the breaker panel again.
- Remove the red wire from the power supply just adjusted and reconnect the red wire to the second power supply to be adjusted.
- Use the potentiometer on the second power supply to adjust the power supply output voltage to voltage parameters per contract.
- Repeat this process, isolating each power supply to adjust the output voltage until all power supplies associated with the Low Voltage Distribution Panel (LVDP) are within voltage parameters per contract.
- Reconnect all the red wires on all of the power supplies and then turn power on at the breaker panel.
- Using a meter (black lead on black wire, red lead to red wire) verify the voltage of each power supply. They should all be on, with a green LED indicator near potentiometer / adjustable screw.
Notes: Power supply that can be adjusted are:
A-1593, 15VDC output
A-1648, 12VDC output.
A-1732, 9VDC output.
We asked our inventory group about the A-1593 power supplies. They reported Daktronics originally purchased this power supply from Cosel. However, this part is now obsolete, and we can no longer purchase this power supply. The last time buy from Cosel was in 2016.
A-1648 & A-1732 have an alternate power supply assembly 0A-1247-0012, which calls out a new power supply A-3639148. This is a 12V, 27AMP, Model PBA300F and can be adjusted from 8.5 to 13 volts.
