Basic Troubleshooting for WebOS screens

- This article will provide some basic items to check when a WebOS screen is not operating as expected.
Environment
- Product: WebOS television screen
- Component:
- Control System: Adflow DMS Web player
Steps
- Power cycle the screen by removing power, wait a few seconds then power on the screen again.
- Check date/time setting.
- Using remote, click EZ Settings.
- Click on General and view Time & Date.
- If a change is needed click on time & Date and make the needed changes.
- Using remote, click EZ Settings.
- Check the network/wifi connection status.
- Using remote, click on "EZ Setting".
- Click on General and then select "Network".
- Within the Network tab, view connection status.
- To set up a connection:
- Select Wired Connection or Wi-Fi Connection to set up a static IP or a wireless profile.
- A hidden Wireless Network may be added by manually entering network name or SSID.
- Select Wired Connection or Wi-Fi Connection to set up a static IP or a wireless profile.
- To set up a connection:
- If the display is showing "not connected" after setting up the network settings (WiFi or LAN), this may be due to the "Connection Domain" setting pointing to the default LG address, which may be blocked by the current network.
- In more recent firmware versions, this setting can be changed:
- With the remote, open the settings Menu and navigate to the General > Network > Connection Domain option.
- Switch the Manual Edit toggle in upper right, to On and enter api.adflowdms.net as the domain and then click SAVE.
- Once saved, reboot the display (Power Off then Power On).
- Recheck the connectivity and it should show status as green.
- With the remote, open the settings Menu and navigate to the General > Network > Connection Domain option.
- In more recent firmware versions, this setting can be changed:
- If the display has previously been activated and is offline, the remote control may be disabled. To temporarily regain access to the remote, follow these steps:
- Hold down the settings button for 7 seconds.
- Enter the password on the service menu that is presented (This will re-enable the remote for the duration of the on-screen display being active).
