Venus 7000: How do I create an initialize button

Steps

The initialize script will put a base configuration on a VLink.

  1. On the V7000 Shell, click on the Display button.
  2. The V7Display window will open, if need be, click on the Scripts button at the top to show the Scripting page.
  3. By default, there will be some scripts already setup as shown below:

  4. Right-Click on the Initialize button and select Cut Cell, then right-click on the empty cell in the bottom left of the grid and select Paste Cell, the rest of the buttons can be left alone.
  5. Right-Click on the Initialize button and selecting Edit Script File.
This will open the Edit Script window for that specific button, the script field should be blank.



If it is not blank, highlight each line and click the Delete Line button on the right side of the window to remove them.

Setup the script line to set the VLink to Overlay mode

  1. Click on the Add Line button.
  2. In the Select Scripting Command window, scroll down to the "VLSetSource", highlight it and click next.
  3. Ensure that the VLink for Face A/1 is selected, if not click on the Select Sign to choose the primary face, click next.
  4. Select OVERLAYED, click next.
  5. Leave the VLink# at 1, click next.
  6. the next screen will be a preview of the scripting line, it should look something like "VLSetSource Local "544X384 Face A" OVERLAYED 1", this can be read as you are setting the VLink for the 544x384 Face A to Overlayed mode on VLink #1.
  7. Click Finish to add the script line to the button.

Setup the script to set the correct input on the Channels being used

  1. Click on the Add Line button.
  2. In the Select Scripting Command window, scroll down to the "VLSetInput", highlight it and click next.
  3. The correct face should already be selected from the last script entry, verify it is correct, click next.
  4. Scroll down and highlight the correct input, this can be found in the control schematic or if service is on site, verify how the video inputs are connected to the VLink. 
  5. The VLink# is always 1 as mentioned above, the Channel will can be 1-4 depending on how the VLink is set but typically you would want to start with channel 1, select the correct channel and click next.
  6. The next screen will preview the script, should look something like "VLSetInput Local "544X384 Face A" SDI1 1 1", can be read as setting the VLink input on Face A to SDI1 on channel 1.
  7. Click on Finish to add the script line to the button.

Setup the script for the viewable area for the for the source

  1. Click on the Add Line button.
  2. In the Select Scripting Command window, scroll down to the "VLSetViewableArea", highlight it and click next.
  3. The correct face should already be selected from the last script entry, if it is not, change it to the correct face, click next.
  4. Fill in the correct values for the viewable area of the video source, click next.
    1. This will typically be the size of the incoming signal
  5. Verify the correct channel, should still be set from the previous entry, click next.
  6. Preview the script, click Finish to add it to the button.

Setup the script for the window area for the display.

  1. Click the Add Line button.
  2. In the Select Scripting Command window, scroll down to the "VLSetWindowArea", highlight it and click next.
  3. The correct face should already be selected from the last script entry, if it is not, change it to the correct face, click next.
  4. Fill in the correct values for the window area of the display, click next.
    1. This will typically be the size of the display
  5. Verify the correct channel, should still be set from the previous entry, click next.
  6. Preview the script, click Finish to add it to the button.

Setup the script for key color of the channel

  1. Click the Add Line button.
  2. In the Select Scripting Command window, scroll down to the "VLSetKeyLevels", highlight it and click next.
  3. The correct face should already be selected from the last script entry, if it is not, change it to the correct face, click next.
  4. Enter the key color for the channel, example key colors could be:
    1. Channel 1: Red=0 Green=247 Blue=0
    2. Channel 2: Red-247 Green=0 Blue=0
    3. Channel 3: Red=0 Green=0 Blue=247
    4. Channel 4: Red=129 Green=129 Blue=0
  5. Once you have entered the desired key color, click next.
  6. Verify the correct channel, should still be set from the previous entry, click next.
  7. Preview the script, click Finish to add it to the button.
  8. The steps above have showed you how to setup channel 1 on the primary VLink.  These steps 8-11 should be repeated for the remaining channels on the primary VLink and steps 7-11 for any subsequent VLinks and channels until all VLink's and channels have been initially configured.
  9. The last lines of the script will play a key color so that one of the channels will be overlayed out to the display.
  10. Setup the script to play one of the key colors
    • Click the Add Line button.
    • In the Select Scripting Command window, scroll down to the "PlaySequence", highlight it and click next.
    • Select the desired VLink, click next.
    • Browse to the solid color image for the desired channel (ie. if you want to display channel 1, you will need to select the file that has a color of green 247)
    • Once you have selected the proper file, click next.
    • Ensure the mode is set to continuous, click next.
    • Preview the script, click Finish to add it to the button.
  11. Repeat step 13 for each VLink to play the desired channel on each by default.
  12. Once all script lines are added to the button, your window should look something like Venus 7000: How do I set up the Daktronics Video Image Processors or VIP’s for Overlay Mode? .  Click on Close, the changes you have been making are saved automatically, you can use the SaveAs button to save a backup of the button, this should be stored someplace besides the V7000 in the event that it crashes and needs to be replaced.
  13. Back on the V7Display - Scripting page, click on the Initialize button to run the script you just created.  Watch the lower portion of the window as each line is executed, ensure that all say OK: before it, meaning that there were no errors in the script.  Also verify that everything is appearing on the display as desired, if changes need to be made, go back into the Edit Script window, select the proper line, and edit the script as desired.  Re-run the Initialize button until you are happy with the results.
