NPN Series: Product Only Troubleshooting Checklist

Topic

  • Intent of this Checklist is to provide direction for an installation or service event on only an NPN series display. Ideally, we will be able to determine if the issue is with Daktronics provided equipment or 3rd party equipment in 30 minutes or less.

Environment

  • Product Family: Control System; Video
  • Products: NPN Product Only
  • Components: DI-6000
  • Control Systems:

Steps

  1. Note display state (blank, partially blank, content isn't showing as intended) and navigate to Web UI of DI-6000
    • If on a closed network with no Bomgar access, walk the customer through accessing it
  2. Check output monitor of DI-6000. Does content appear correctly?
    • If Yes, proceed to Step 6.
    • If No, proceed to Step 3.
  3. Check input monitor of DI-6000. Does content appear correctly?
    • If Yes, proceed to Step 5.
    • If No, ensure that content meets all specifications and requirements (or provide this list to the customer to reference/check). If content appears to meet all specs/requirements, proceed to Step 4.
  4. If possible, try another source as an input. If issue does not resolve, proceed to troubleshoot DI.
    • If DI has failed, follow standard replacement procedure
    • If DI is functional, proceed to Step 5.
  5. Confirm that output(s) are active and configured correctly. Enable and configure as needed.
  6. Confirm that dimming is set properly. If not, adjust accordingly.
  7. Confirm that Translation Table is correct for display. If not, upload correct TT.
  8. Run test patterns to the display. Does the display behave the same way when test patterns are run?
    • If Yes, this is a wiring or power issue within or going to the display. Provide customer with signal/power drawings if they don't have them to verify routing & connections.  If they need further assistance contact Daktronics Service Coordination to setup installation support.
    • If No, this may indicate an issue with content.  Test a known good piece of content if available.  If issues are still present, and Control System appears to be in good working order, contact Service Coordination to setup installation support.
