Earlier this summer we hit the road to interview Ben Wiener, owner of Guiding Light Marketing in Marshall, Minnesota. Ben is new to the world of digital billboards, and we wanted to pick his brain on exactly why he chose Daktronics for this new venture over the other options out there. Here is what he had to say.

Why did you choose Daktronics over other digital billboard manufacturers?

The people were really the biggest part of it. Coming along side of me, and anything that I needed they responded to exceptionally and going above and beyond what they were asked. Really looking out for you and getting an idea of what my purpose was, what my mission was, because it’s not the same for everybody.

Have you received any comments about your display since installation?

I’ve received a lot of really good feedback on the image quality. We put a little bit more money into the board, just because owning two businesses, if the one doesn’t look good the other doesn’t look good and vice versa. All the comments that I’ve received have been really great about how the picture looks, how clear it is, people are really impressed with that.

What was your overall experience like while working with Daktronics?

From day one, meetings with the city in terms of getting this approved, they were there. They were there to point me in the right direction for somebody to install the board, somebody to create the structure. They were there for the whole thing. I don’t think I could have done it without the project managers involvement and them guiding me in the right places.

What advice do you have for other digital billboard entrepreneurs?

As with everything, have a plan. Be intentional and strategic about what you want to carry out, what your mission is with it, and do your homework. I like to think like I said I did my due diligence in researching the companies that I wanted to partner up with, and finding someone that you can really call a partner in the whole process is really important.
