FLXR3: How to update firmware on radios?

Steps

Download and unzip the latest .zip/.webbin radio firmware file from https://dakfiles.daktronics.com/downloads/Fuelight/GEN%20III/Firmware/FLXR3/ .

  1. Remove power from all client radios and update the server radio per the steps below.
  2. Remove power from the server radio, and power up the client radio/s one at a time and update individually per the steps below.
  3. Once all radios are updated log into the servers advanced diagnostics and configuration page and verify that the quality of service (QoS) % for each client radio is at 100 (may take a few minutes to update, and might not go to 100 right away).

Updating FLXR3 Server Radio (FLXR3-S1)

  1. Power cycle the server radio.
  2. Connect your laptop to the radio using an Ethernet patch cable.
  3. Configure the computer's IP address for the same subnet as the radio's IP. 
  4. Open a web browser and navigate to the radio's IP address (example: http://192.168.0.30).
  5. Enter the radio password to gain access to the advanced diagnostics and configuration.  The default password is password.
  6. Download and unzip the latest .zip/.webbin radio firmware file from https://dakfiles.daktronics.com/downloads/Fuelight/GEN%20III/Firmware/FLXR3/ .
  7. At the bottom of the advanced diagnostics and configuration page click the Choose File button and browse to the .webbin file you want to load.

  8. Now click on the Upload Firmware button to upload the file that you choose within the previous step and load that firmware to the Server Radio.
  9. Log back into the radios advanced diagnostics and configuration page after the radio resets and verify that the TX Power is set to 27dBM
  10. Within the radios advanced diagnostics and configuration page and verify that the Radio Firmware Version: shows that the update took or this information can be found on the radios LCD screen during boot up as seen below.

Updating FLXR3 Client Radio (FLXR3-C1)

  1. Power on the client radio.
  2. Connect your laptop to the radio using an Ethernet patch cable.
  3. Configure the computer's IP address for the same subnet as the radio's IP. 
  4. Open a web browser and navigate to the radio's IP address (example: http://192.168.0.31).
  5. Enter the radio password to gain access to the advanced diagnostics and configuration.  The default password is password.
  6. At the bottom of the advanced diagnostics and configuration page click the Choose File button and browse to the .zip file you want to load.

  7. Now click on the Upload Firmware button to upload the file that you choose within the previous step and load that firmware to the Client Radio.
  8. Log back into the radios advanced diagnostics and configuration page after the radio resets and verify that the TX Power is set to 27dBM
