How to setup a Client computer in Vanguard Professional software

 How do I configure a client computer to communicate to the Vanguard server computer?

Environment

  • Vanguard V4 Professional Software
    • Server / client setup
      • Server is the main computer that houses the Vanguard database.
      • Client is the secondary computer connecting to the main server via internal network.

Steps

  1. Perform the following steps on the CLIENT machine.  This will direct the client computer to the SERVER computer.
  2. Double-click on the blue Vanguard Professional icon to open the below login window.

  4. Click on the blue text next to the Server field.
  5. Click on Configure available servers, then click on Add.

  7. Enter the IP address or hostname of the server computer and a description (Alias) of the SERVER machine in the appropriate fields.

  9. Click on the OK button.
  10. Verify the server computer is listed in the Configure Available Servers window.

  12. Close the Configure Available Servers window.
  13. To direct the client to a server:
  14. At the Vanguard Professional login window, click on the blue text next to the Server field.
  15. Choose the desired Server from the drop-down menu in the Select Server Entry window, then click the OK button.

  18. Double-click on the blue Vanguard Professional icon to open the below login window. Enter your User name and Password and click the GO button.
