Innovation

It Started With a Vision

Thinking outside the box of standard digital signage shapes and sizes, the idea to create a revolutionary display to the size and scale never seen before in facility design was born. HOK's innovative design helped create the landmark Halo display.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium's design and structural teams worked closely with our team to collaborate and refine abstract drawings into feasible, attainable designs.

This resulted in a combination of unmatched design-build capabilities and creative, forward-thinking concepts.

Engineering

Where a Vision Meets Reality

There are many challenges and multiple decisions necessary to bring visions to reality and provide something that resonates as unique to a venue.

As an engineering company, we know it takes proven experience to truly understand the direction of a project with the end goal in mind. Mercedes-Benz Stadium wanted a partner to embark upon an engineering feat to help transform the way LED video technology was used in a sports venue. Daktronics was up for the challenge.

This project was designed years in advance, allowing our engineering team to innovate products and customizations specifically for Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Power Supplies

Engineered new power supplies for cost and infrastructure savings, as well as reducing weight to the roof of the stadium.

ProRail System

Used our patented ProRail technology for improved sight lines and cost savings.

Custom Cabinet Design

Implemented customized curved cabinet structures to meet the smooth elliptical shape of the Halo.

Engineering / Design-Build

Early collaboration in the design process to custom-fit the display in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Manufacturing

Building the Solution

Control over the manufacturing process from the component level to final assembly.

Creating the world's largest video scoreboard isn’t something new to Daktronics. With more than 600,000 square feet of manufacturing space, Daktronics can handle the largest video display projects in the industry. With component level assembly in each of our five global factories building to the same precision standards, Daktronics can ensure quality products are delivered to customers around the world.

62,000-square-foot Halo video board manufactured.

The Halo display came through our facility and other projects didn’t suffer or get put on hold to accomplish the feat.

Representatives visited our corporate headquarters.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium representatives toured our facilities in Brookings, South Dakota, to see the process firsthand and sign off on the display during their visit.

Count on our manufacturing capabilities.

Their team relied on our manufacturing capabilities which have recently been recognized with a Frost & Sullivan Manufacturing Leadership Award for Operational Excellence in 2017.

Installation

Piecing it All Together

New stadium construction has a lot of moving parts and multiple parties on site with differing schedules, timelines and milestones. A company with more than 800 combined years in project management has the experience to work through the construction schedule at Mercedes-Benz Stadium over the past two years to bring an LED video solution to life on time and on budget.

We know every moment matters. When the lights came on and fans flocked to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, all eyes looked up at the Halo display and we had it completely installed and ready to make an amazing first impression.

Game Day

Achieving Your Final Goal

A total of 16 displays combine for more than 83,500 square feet throughout Mercedes-Benz Stadium to provide fans with an immersive experience that is unique, and memorable. From the unprecedented Halo display to the Mega Column display to the uniquely-shaped Feather Wall display to the club displays, Mercedes-Benz Stadium offers more LED real estate than any other stadium in the world and provides the ultimate game-day experience like nothing else available in sports.
