Digit and Price Displays: Dim; light sensor opening is obstructed

Potential Symptoms

  • Gas price display is dim during the day, but proper brightness at night.
  • When swapping drivers, issue does not follow the driver.  Issue stays with the cabinet.

Cause

  • The light sensor opening is obstructed.

Resolution

  • Remove the obstruction from the light sensor opening so the photocell can get proper light readings.
    • The obstruction could be on the outside of the display face, such as:
      • The light sensor opening was painted over
      • A twig is stuck in the opening
    • The obstruction could be on the inside of the display face, such as:
      • Tape is covering the opening
      • A wire routed between the light sensor hole and the photocell on the driver
