Moxa USB to serial adapter, No communication, Alert present in Venus 1500 V4 on Windows 8 or 10 OS

Potential Symptoms

  • No communication to the display, alert is present in Venus 1500 application window.
  • USB adapter is listed in Device Manager and does not show any issue with the driver.
  • The radio J-box does not show any activity on the TX or RX LEDs indicating there is no data coming from the computer.

  • Product Family: Message Displays
  • Product: Galaxy, Serial Communication
  • Component: USB to serial adapter (Prolific/Moxa, UPort 1110)
  • Control System: Venus 1500 V3 or V4

Cause

  • USB port issue / port lock up.

Resolution

  1. Connect USB adapter to new port on computer and allow computer to assign new port.
  2. Edit the display properties within Venus 1500 V4 to use the newly assigned port and save changes.
  3. Connect to display.

For Temporary Operation

  • Reseat adapter or Disable then Enable USB adapter in current port and reboot computer when prompted.
