Diagnostics Alert: Hardware Failure event on module, module failure

Potential Symptoms

  • Power cycling the module did not remove the event from IDM /VCS or only did so temporarily.
  • Module shows discoloration that does not follow signal flow.
  • Issue follows mod when moved.
  • Potential poor image quality. The module has experienced a failure and is likely not outputting video correctly or at all.

IDM / System Health Event(s)

  • Hardware Failure event on mod in IDM or Venus Control Suite (VCS), however mod is functioning properly.

Environment

  • Product: DB-4050, DB-4100, DB-4200, DB-5000, DB-6400, GS6
  • Component: Module
  • Control System: Visiconn, Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Cause

  • Module failure.
  • The module is not operating correctly and is likely not outputting video correctly.

Resolution

  1. If possible, perform a self test on the module and record the results on the toe tag or slip of paper and return it with the module.
  2. Replace the module.
  3. If no visual issue is discovered, contact Daktronics Technical Operations Center before performing service.

Work Around

  • If no spares available, move module(s) to the edge or corner of the display to minimize possible visual issues.
