Environment

  • Product Family: Software

  • Component:
  • Control System: Venus 1500 Version 4

Cause

  • There are various things that could cause the presentations not to be sent.  See the following resolutions for things to investigate.

Resolution

Step 1: Are you getting status to your display?

  1. Launch Venus 1500 V4.
  2. Allow Venus 1500 V4 software to finish trying to obtain status.
    1. Do you see Display Status appear in the Display Status panel on the left hand side?
      • Yes, you see various data filled in the information fields, proceed to Step 2.
      • No, proceed to checking for alerts.
    2. Do you see an Alert in the Alerts panel on the right hand corner?
      • Yes, there is a potential communication issue, use Knowledge Base to troubleshoot alert or contact Daktronics Technical Support.
      • No, Proceed to checking Status Progress.
    3. Double-click on the Status Progress bar next to Online/Offline drop down and check to make sure the retrieving status has completed.
      • If Completed with a Green Check, you should see the Display Status information appear and proceed to Step 2.
      • If not completed, allow the status process to complete.
      • If completed with a Red X, there is a potential communication issue, use Knowledge Base to troubleshoot alert or contact Daktronics Support.

Step 2: Re-publish to the display after status has completed.

  1. Go to the Schedule Tab.
  2. Click Publish to Display.
  3. Do you get a message asking to overwrite presentations that may already exist?
    • If Yes, you can click yes or no to the prompt, this indicates the changes are going to be published.
    • If No, this means there could be a few reasons.
      • Your software is in the process of obtaining status, you cannot publish when software is in progress of obtaining status.
      • Your software setting is set to not prompt to overwrite, you will not get the prompt.
        • Click Orange V Application menu -> Venus 1500 Options, under Publish Presentation Overwrite if checked, it will not prompt to overwrite.
      • Your software is not getting status, see Step 1 for details.
  4. Once clicking yes or no to the overwrite, go to Home tab, and check to see if changes have sent in the Running or Stored Presentations panel.
    • You may need to double-click Status Progress bar to view the progress and if publishing has completed.
  5. You should see changes sent to your display whether you were adding or removing presentations.

Step 3: If you have to re-publish frequently for schedule changes to go out to the display, then clear display memory and reset display.

  1. Click on the display tools (white triangle to the right of Select a Display) from the Home tab.
  2. Put a check mark next to Clear Display Memory.
  3. Click Reset Display.
  4. After display is reset, select your display from the drop down on the Home tab.
  5. Click on the Schedule tab and click the blue Publish to Display button.
  6. Monitor to see if display is showing correct presentations.

Step 4: Confirm that you are running the latest version of the Venus 1500 V4 software.

  1. Determine the version of the software by looking in the top-center of the Venus 1500 Hub.
  2. If the version is less than 4.20.4, then you will need to update to a newer version.
    1. Go to the Venus 1500 Message Display Control Software website.
    2. Scroll down and click on the orange Download Venus 1500 button.
    3. Red the important information on the top of the screen, then scroll down and click on the orange Update button.
    4. Follow How do I update or download Venus 1500 v4 software?, DD1993540 to download the update.
  3. After the update is complete, open the Venus 1500 V4 software and try to Publish To Display again.

Note:  If still not able to publish, contact Daktronics Technical Support for assistance.
