Digital Outdoor Returns to Daktronics for New Billboards
Back-to-back billboard application upgraded from 2005 installation
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sept. 23, 2016 – Digital Outdoor, one of the first independent outdoor companies to purchase LED video billboard displays from Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, in 2005, has once again put trust in Daktronics products by upgrading with newer technology. Two new LED digital billboards were installed back to back in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, this summer in the same location as the previous displays.
"Since installing these new displays, our overall power consumption is down by more than 50 percent in the first month of operation," said Fred Derby, owner of Digital Outdoor. "The new Daktronics product looks good and the installation brackets made things easy for our retrofit. Daktronics has been very helpful, informative and accommodating throughout the entire process."
In addition to the improved energy efficiency, the resolution of the new displays increased from 23 to 15-millimeter line spacing, more than double the overall video pixels, to provide better overall picture quality and readability of content. These billboards also feature Daktronics new revolutionary targeted LEDs to provide higher contrast and brightness while using less power. The two new displays are the same size as the previous installation, each measuring approximately 14 feet high by 48 feet wide.
