Scoreboard: How do I determine my scoreboard’s All Sport radio settings?

Potential Symptoms

  • How do I determine the radio settings of my scoreboard?
  • How do I enter the radio settings of my scoreboard into the control console?

Environment

  • Product:
  • Component: Gen V (5) or Gen VI (6) radio receiver installed in an LED scoreboard
  • Control System: Radio-equipped All Sport or OmniSport console

Resolution

To determine the settings for radio connections between the scoreboard and control console:

  1. Power off any radio-equipped control consoles in the area.
  2. Cycle power to the scoreboard by turning power off to the scoreboard for about 30-60 seconds. Flip the breaker/disconnect (outdoor), or unplug the scoreboard from its outlet (indoor).

Note: If unable to cycle power to the scoreboard, refer to How do I find scoreboard radio Broadcast and Channel settings when the scoreboard cannot be power cycled? .
  3. Return power to the scoreboard and watch for the radio settings after the Power-On Self-Test (POST). If you cannot see the scoreboard from the power disconnect location, make sure someone else can watch it for you. If the POST does not appear at all, suspect another issue, such as a driver failure.

The first values are the Broadcast settings ("b1"), and the second are the Channel settings ("C1"). These settings appear in different locations based on the scoreboard layout.

If there is a clock, the settings appear in the clock digits:

If there is no clock, the settings should appear in the Home and Guest score digits, but this may vary by scoreboard model:

Note: If no radio settings appear, the radio receiver may need to be repaired/replaced.

  4. Power on the control console, and press <CLEAR/NO> (do not resume the previous game).
  5. Enter the correct sport code. If this is not known, refer to All Sport: What code should I use for my scoreboard?
  6. Press <CLEAR/NO> again and enter the radio settings exactly as they appear on the scoreboard.

  7. Wait 5 seconds, and then make sure you can now edit the information displayed on the scoreboard.

By default, radio receivers are set to "b1C1" at the factory, and this will work for most wireless systems. In more complex setups where there are multiple wireless scoreboards in the same area, additional configuration will be required. Refer to Understanding Broadcast & Channel Settings for Multiple Wireless Scoreboards or the appropriate All Sport controller manual.
