Professional Baseball Swings Into Action With Daktronics Installations

23 total teams and venues get nearly 32,000 square feet of LED upgrades for 2017

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Mar. 29, 2017 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with eight major league teams, five spring training venues and 10 minor league teams for nearly 32,000 square feet of LED display installations for the 2017 season. The Astros, Athletics, Brewers, Cubs, Phillies, Rays, Tigers and Yankees received new LED solutions ranging from large video displays and ribbon displays to freeform lettering.

"We're looking forward to a great baseball season featuring multiple Daktronics systems including these eight major league teams receiving new equipment for 2017," said Vice President of Live Events Jay Parker. "Each year, teams expand their reach beyond the main video displays as they look to connect with their fans in different ways and provide new points of contact for their sponsors. The result is an exciting fan experience that brings their fans to the ballpark again and again."

The Oakland Athletics added freeform LED elements to light up their "Holy Toledo" signage measuring approximately 13 feet high by 13.5 feet wide. The freeform puck elements feature 35-millimeter pixel spacing to bring light and attention the catch phrase during the biggest moments of the game. The team also added a 230-square-foot display to their club's patio arena.

In Chicago, the world champion Cubs have focused on upgrading the area around Wrigley Field including their office building adjacent to the ballpark. The installation includes four vertical displays in their plaza area – two pylons with two displays on each – and a large marquee display on outside the office building.

"These displays will help entertain Cubs fans beyond the confines of the game," said Tony Mulder, Daktronics regional sales manager. "Many teams are looking to improve these plaza areas around their venues to engage fans before, during and after games. It provides an extra element to their overall game-day experience that fans are looking for more and more when attending events."

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology features industry-leading environmental protection for a long lifetime with consistent performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
