Daktronics Caters to the Retail Market with Narrow Pixel Pitch (NPP) Offering at the Retail Digital Signage Expo in London

BROOKINGS, S.D. – May 31, 2017 – Daktronics exhibited for the first time at Retail Digital Signage Expo (RDSE) in Olympia, London. The two-day trade show (May 8-9), was held together with Retail Design Expo and Retail Business Technology Expo, and was well attended. Launched last year, the exhibition saw 15,452 attendees, including more than 2,100 international visitors through its doors. Organisers said that this year there was a definite increase in the total number of visitors. RDSE was part of the London Digital Signage Week.

Showcasing its Narrow Pixel Pitch (NPP) LED displays, Daktronics stand was popular with both retailers and integrators searching for a visual solution that would offer excellent image quality and the durability necessary for the retail environment.

Patrick Halliwell, Daktronics UK managing director commented, "The industry standard for image and video quality is HD resolution and is quickly expanding to include 4K content. Narrow Pixel Pitch (NPP) LED video displays can now handle content that was previously restricted to LCD screens. Daktronics displays offer a seamless, high-resolution solution that creates a detailed and crisp image. This product is ideal for retailers wanting to add an element of luxury and highly dynamic experience to their stores."

Halliwell adds, "At Daktronics, we have seen an increased interest for retail market indoor screens. We have installed displays in some of the biggest shopping centres in the UK, such as Westfield in London, as well as in international airports such as Gatwick and the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The trend extends beyond the UK, we have recently delivered a fantastic project at CentrO Mall in Germany. The displays at CentrO Mall create an unforgettable experience and a sense of place with almost 250 square meters of digital canvas. CentrO Mall took a wonderful approach to their project by focusing on the atmosphere first with 75 percent of the content focused on creating an enjoyable and relaxing environment to enhance their customers' experience."

Daktronics displays stand alone as the most efficient solution in the market, able to manage the heat generated by millions of LEDs. Using half of the power consumption of an industry standard solution and up to twice the brightness. Heat is one of the greatest challenges facing manufacturers today and is the primary factor in early display failures. Daktronics invests heavily into product testing with an in-house reliability facility designed to ensure a durable and long lasting solution.

Daktronics provides a broad breadth of products for both indoor and outdoor applications. As customers have rapidly shifted toward tighter pixel pitches for indoor applications, Daktronics has introduced a range of NPP LED displays in the sub 4-millimeter category to include: 1.2mm, 1.9mm, 2.5mm, and 3.9mm.

Susanne Turner, business development manager at Daktronics said, "The retail market is changing rapidly to stay relevant in today's market filled with alternatives to visiting retail stores. Retailers have responded by becoming truly customer-centric, focusing on how to provide a truly unique and engaging environment for consumers. Creating these "memorable impressions" is imperative to remaining competitive and requires working with companies that can assist in bringing the vision and experience to reality. Those experiences are what Daktronics strives to create for each of our customers."
