batch files for starting and stopping services don't work

Potential Symptoms

  • double-clicking a batch file to start or stop a service opens the command prompt, shows the process and completes the process, but the service written in the script doesnt change state.

  • Product Family: Microsoft
  • Product: Windows

  • Security levels, the script needs to be ran in an elevated command prompt not initiated when you double-click the script.

  1. move the batch files to the tools folder, and create shortcuts by right clicking and sending them to the desktop
  2. once these shortcuts are created, right click them and in the summary, tab click the advanced button
  3. check the box that says run as administrator and save/close properties

double clicking these shortcuts now should trigger everything to work properly as an admin level command.
