DMP-8000s missing from Service Configuration, unable to add due to being in use

Potential Symptoms

  • First time fire up for newly installed Touchsmart computer
  • DMP-8000s missing from Status and Service Configuration
  • When adding in Service Configuration, error states the player is already in use

  • When opening the DisplayStudioIntegration program, receive a .NET error (located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Display Studio\VNet Plugin\VNet Utility for v3.x and below; for v4.x and above, this is located in C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Display Studio\VNet Plugin\VNet Utility).

Cause

  •    .NET Framework isn't installed properly and requires repair.

Resolution

  1. Type Turn Windows features on or off in the search box and select Turn Windows features on or off from the search results.

  2. Uncheck the radio boxes next to .NET Framework 3.5 and .NET Framework 4.x to disable both versions of .NET.

  3. If a window pops up stating "Windows needs to reboot your PC to finish installing the requested changes," click Restart Now.

  4. After Windows completes the changes or finishes restarting, re-enable .NET Framework 3.5 and .NET Framework 4.x by following steps 1 and 2 again, this time checking the radio box next to both services.
  5. At this point, Windows will search for the requested files and ask to download files from Windows Update, click Let Windows Update download the files for you.

  6. Once completed, restart the computer.
  7. Open Display Studio to verify the DMP-8000s are now present in Service Configuration.
