Troubleshooting Hub- Error and Warning messages for 6000 Input/Output Pages

Potential Symptoms

  • I have a red x or yellow ! on my  Input or Output Dashboard Tiles. (Error and Warning symbols)

  • Inputs Dashboard Tile- This tile shows the types and number of the processor's configured inputs.
  • Outputs Dashboard Tile - This tile shows the types and number of the processor's configured outputs.

Environment

  • Product: VP-6000, DI-6000
  • Components: Input and Output warning messages, Diagnostics
  • Control System:

Resolution

  • Click on the interactive tile to open the Input or Output Configuration Page.
  • Inputs shows the details of each processor input. An error symbol6000 input error icon.png indicates that the input has an error. A warning symbol6000 input warning icon.png indicates notable changes to an input such as a test pattern or override.

Error and Warnings for Inputs

  • DisplayPort
    • Errors
      • link training failure
        • What is it:  The 6000 is not able to successfully lock-on to the input signal being supplied.
        • Symptoms: The display will have no output. The UX monitoring page would also not show anything for that input (no image message). The output and/or display face could show white "speckled" color (un-initialized memory) or be frozen on the last content frame.
        • Resolution: Check the cables (both internal and external). The problem could also be upstream (check content source). This is most likely not from a configuration error.

      • electrical idle
        • What is it: Electrical Idle means the differential voltage applied to the link is ~0V (no signaling). If there is ~0V differential, then the RX cannot recover a clock and bit/symbol lock is lost.
        • Symptoms: Display will have no output. The UX monitoring page would also not show anything for that input (no image message). The output and/or display face could show white "speckled" color (un-initialized memory) or be frozen on the last content frame.
        • Resolution: This error simply means there's no cable detected, so it's probably not plugged in, or the source isn't actually outputting anything.

      • no video
        • What is it: The signal is good (plugged in and trained) but the source hasn't started sending video yet.
        • Symptoms: Display will have no output. The UX monitoring page would also not show anything for that input (no image message). The output and/or display face could show white "speckled" color (un-initialized memory) or be frozen on the last content frame.
        • Resolution: Verify the source is outputting.
      • wrong bit depth (future/HDR usage)
        • What is it:
        • Symptoms:
        • Resolution:
      • wrong resolution
        • What is it: The video resolution being received is not the resolution we are configured for.
        • Symptoms:  The display will only show part of the image, depending on the resolution size difference.
        • Resolution:   Reconfigure the VP or the player device so that their resolutions match.    It might also be caused by the player rebooting or the computer GPU deciding to use a different resolution for some reason.
  • SDI

    • Errors
      • is not frame locked
        • What is it: The processor cannot detect a valid SDI signal.
        • Symptoms: There is an error in the received signal.
        • Resolution: (things to verify/try)
          • Verify that the input configuration is set as expected.
          • Double check signal itself is expected resolution.
          • Double check bayonet is locked.
          • Inspect cable for integrity.
  • VMAX 4
    • Errors
      • is not frame locked
        • What is it: The processor cannot detect a valid VMAX 4 signal.
        • Symptoms: There is an error in the received signal.
        • Resolution: (things to verify/try)
          • Verify that the input configuration is set as expected.
          • Double check signal itself is expected resolution.
          • Double check bayonet is locked.
          • Inspect cable for integrity.

Error and Warnings for Outputs

  • DisplayPort
    • Errors
      • link training failure
        • What is it: The downstream device is not able to successfully lock-on to the output signal being supplied.
        • Symptoms: No content on the downstream device.
        • Resolution: Check the cables (both internal and external). The problem could also be upstream (check content source). This is most likely not from a configuration error.
      • sink not present
        • What is it: There is nothing connected downstream (or the downstream device isn't on, etc.). If you have this error, you will also have link training failure and video not synced.
        • Symptoms: No content on the downstream device.
        • Resolution: (things to verify/try)
          • Check the downstream device.
      • video not synced
        • What is it: The 6000 is sending a resolution that the downstream device doesn't support. Could also happen if there is no compositor set up (VP).
        • Symptoms: No content on downstream device.
        • Resolution: (things to verify/try)
          • Reconfigure so resolutions are correct.
  • SDI
    • none
  • VMAX 4
    • Warnings
      • video override active
        • What is it: Calibration or test patterns are active.
        • Symptoms:  The expected content is not being displayed.
        • Resolution: Verify calibration and/or test patterns are not enabled.
      • dimming override active
        • What is it: Calibration or test patterns are active.
        • Symptoms: The expected content/dimming is not being displayed..
        • Resolution: Verify calibration and/or test patterns are not enabled.
      • face enables override active
        • What is it: Calibration or test patterns are active.
        • Symptoms:  The expected content is not being displayed.
        • Resolution: Verify calibration and/or test patterns are not enabled.
  • ProLink6
    • Errors
      • RLD calibration is not complete
        • What is it: The RLD memory on the card did not calibrate.  This is due to a design flaw of the chip from a certain vendor.
        • Symptoms: No ProLink video or diagnostics.
        • Resolution:  Power cycle the computer.  (The card must be power cycled, not just restarted.)
      • has LOS error
        • What is it:  The card is not receiving data from the display.
        • Symptoms: No diagnostics coming back from the display.
        • Resolution:  Fix the return fiber connections.
    • Warnings
      • video override active
        • What is it: Calibration or test patterns are active.
        • Symptoms: The expected content is not being displayed.
        • Resolution: Verify calibration or test patterns are not active.
      • dimming override active
        • What is it: Calibration, test patterns, or commissioning tools are active.
        • Symptoms: The expected content/dimming not is being displayed.
        • Resolution(things to verify/try)
          • Verify calibration, test patterns or commissioning tools are not active.
          • If none of them are active, commissioning may have been exited improperly. Start commissioning again on that output and exit it properly (shift + Q).
      • face enables override active
        • What is it: Calibration, test patterns, or commissioning tools are active.
        • Symptoms: The expected content is not being displayed.
        • Resolution(things to verify/try)
          • Verify calibration, test patterns or commissioning tools are not active.
          • If none of them are active, commissioning may have been exited improperly. Start commissioning again on that output and exit it properly (shift + Q).
      • Blank
        • What is it: The blank bit in the PL is set.
        • Symptoms: The output will be blank (even if there is valid content - the mods will ignore)
        • Resolution: (things to verify/try)
          • This could happen on boot up.  Wait for system to respond. (The 6000 blanks for 30s during boot up.)
          • Boot loading could be in process.  Wait for boot loading to be finished.
          • While a test pattern or calibration is being displayed on an output, if there is another output configured on the same card, that output will be blank and show this. This will resolve when test patterns/calibration are stopped on the card.
