MLB RTD to XML Value pack unauthorized access exception or blocked file path

Potential Symptoms

  • Event log error: Unauthorized access exception: access to path is denied
  • Data Server service can not write to a remote folder

Environment

  • Product Family: Sport Software and Controllers
  • Product: MLB RTD to XML Value pack
  • Component: Data Studio
  • Control System: professional baseball

Cause

  • The correct credentials need to be specified.  

Resolution

  • The fix for this is to specify credentials that the service can use.

    This can be done manually by:

    1. Opening the Services view on the Data Server Computer.
    2. Right click on the Daktronics Data Server service to open the Properties.data server services.png
    3. Click on the Log On tab
    4. Choose the This account: button
    5. Enter creds for that domain.

Note: The credentials should only need to be applied one time.  Future versions of Data Server will have a fix for this. Account needs to be on both the PC with Data Server and the PC with the shared folder or this set up will not function.
