Scoreboard / Clock: RC-100 Base station in server client mode, client display stays on.

Potential Symptoms

  • Client base station will not blank the display when RC-100 is powered off.
  • Client base station will turn off and then come back on after RC-100 is powered off.
  • Client base station location will only stay black after a power cycle.
  • Base station functions normally in server mode.
  • In range light on client base station is on solid when server is off.
  • Client scoreboard or DOG clock will not blank.

Environment

  • Component: Base station 3.7 or 3.8 firmware
  • Control System: RC-100

Cause

  • RC-100 Client Base Station scoreboard packets continue after Server base station RF scoreboard packets halted.

Resolution

  • Use a RC-100 Client Base Station with ED-14906 Version 3.9 or greater.  Contact Daktronics Customer Support for issue verification and part recommendations.

For Temporary Operation

For Basketball:

Option #1:

  • Turn power to the client basketball scoreboard off.

Option #2:

  1. Clear the scoreboard of information before turning the RC-100 Handheld off.
  2. Press "Alt" then "New Game".  Doing this will make it easier to clear/blank the scoreboard because the Bonus and Possession indicators will be blank.
  3. Press "Edit".
  4. Press "Set Time"
  5. Press "Clear".
  6. Press "Enter".
  7. Repeat steps 3-6 for each piece of data on the scoreboard until the scoreboard is blank.
  8. Power the RC-100 Handheld off.

For Play Clock:

Option #1:

  • Turn power to the Play Clocks off.
    • This is a good opportunity to remind the customer this is a best practice for outdoor scoreboards.

Option #2:

  • Clear the scoreboard of information before turning the RC-100 Handheld off.
  • Press the "Stop" key to stop the time from counting.
  • Press "Edit".
  • Press "Set Time".
  • Press "Clear".
  • Press "Enter".
  • Power the RC-100 Handheld off.
