FL-3000/4500: How do I setup a FLR3-100 system with multiple key fobs/receiver cards used on a pylon?

Topic

  • How can the FLR3-100 system be setup when multiple key fobs/receiver cards are being used on a pylon with FL-3000/4500 displays?

Environment

  • Product: Fuelight, FL-3000, FL-4500, Gas, Petroleum or Fuel Price Display, FL digit product
  • Component: Handheld, Remote, Radio
  • Control Systems: Multiple FLR3-100/FLR3-400 Key Fob (Wireless Communication Option)
Important terms
  • Host Display - Display that has the receiver card connected to it.
  • Fuelight System - Host display and all other displays that are connected to the host with a line to line cable.

Steps

2 Options for Setup:

Option 1 (Preferred):  Option 2:
  • If a standard 15 ft. cable cannot reach to all displays (sections are too far apart) or we don't have enough line to line cables to complete option 1 then setup each Fuelight system group with a FLR3-100 key fob kit.
  • When there are multiple Fuelight systems on a structure and they are all on the same breaker, it can be challenging to setup or service and requires the customer to use multiple remotes to update their prices.  In these scenarios option 1 is preferred if possible.
  • Power up one Fuelight system at a time and configure the displays.
    1. Power down all displays.
    2. Set unique address on each key fob. Follow FL-3000/4500: How do I sync the key fob to the Gas Price Display , to set the address and sync the remote.
    3. Power on 1st Fuelight system.
      1. Sync a key fob to this system.
      2. Line map the displays at this time, if needed.
    4. Power on the next Fuelight system. Note: Previous Fuelight system can remain on if it has been on for over 5 minutes.
      1. Sync a different key fob to this system.
    5. Continue step 4 with all/any other Fuelight systems onsite (if more than 2).
    6. Label remotes with appropriate product numbers.
    7. Verify prices change correctly with the correct remote on both sides of the display.
