TriCaster: No video output from TriCaster Studio, extend to second monitor not enabled in Daktronics system.

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to output live video or DDR/video clip content from a TriCaster to the video display, VLink 1500, or VNet/DMP-8000, but can play normal Show Control content.
  • When playing TriCaster content, the video only shows as white on the display.
  • When clicking on the External (or DVI/VGA) tab on the TriCaster, the resolution output area is grayed out and says the following: "Projector or second monitor not detected: Click here for more information."

Cause

Resolution

  1. On the TriCaster exit to Admin mode.
    1. Click X in the upper right.
    2. Select the Admin option to exit to the Windows desktop.
  2. Right-click on the desktop background.
  3. Select Properties, and click on the Settings tab.
  4. Select monitor 2 and then enable Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.
    1. If this step is not option there could be a loose cable or output/input issue.
    2. Try using the correct startup procedure before checking cables if it wasn't used.
  5. Launch the TriCaster program again.
  6. Select the External or VGA tab and verify it is no longer grayed out.
  7. Set the resolution appropriately depending on the aspect ratio of the video display (i.e. divide # modules wide by # of modules high or use pixels: ~1.33 = 4:3, ~ 1.77 = 16:9); typical selections are:
    1. 640x480  4:3  Video Graphics Adaptor (VGA) or
    2. 1280x720  16:9  720p HDTV format
