Show Control System: How do I change brightness on a VIP-5x60, DI-6000, or VP-6000 with a button

Topic

  • Change brightness or dimming on a VIP-5x60, DI-6000, or VP-6000 with a Display Studio script button

Environment

  • Product:
  • Components: DI-6000 or VP-6000 (version 1-10), VIP-5060/VIP-5160 version 2014.07.14-b980+,
  • Control System: Show Control System (SCS) 1.30+; Venus Control Suite (VCS) 0.8.493.1+

Steps

  • Venus Control Suite can control brightness of a VIP-5x60 through a script in Venus. A Display Studio button can then be created to trigger the Venus Control Script. Data Server will take the ERTD command from Display Studio and trigger the Venus/Fusion script that has been created. Prior to December 2015, a separate install and configuration of Data Server was required. With the December 2015 release of Venus (0.8.493.1), Data Server is included in the Venus Control Suite install and the user can add the ERTD to Fusion scripting through the web interface.

  • Starting in DI/VP-6000 version 9+, users are able to directly dim 6000 series processors via Display Studio scripts without using Venus Control Suite fusion scripts. See How do I execute VP-6000/ DI-6000 dimming via Display Studio scripts? for this method.

Configuration Venus Control Suite

1. Verify the time and date on VIP, DI or VP is correct.

2. If needed, add the VIP-5x60, DI-6000, or VP-6000 into a display on Venus Control Suite.  Please note this should be done at the time of equipment installation.  If not already added, please contact Daktronics Technical Support for assistance.
