Billboard Display Looks Dim, or Gray/Washed Out

Potential Symptoms

  • Billboard display is not getting to full bright level, or looks dim.
  • Billboard display looks "gray" or "washed out".

Environment

  • DB-4000, DB-4100, DB-4200, DB-5000; DB-6000, DB-6400, dxb-0100, BLD-0100
  • VIP-4060, VIP-5060

Resolution

  1. Set contrast scalar from the default level of 50 to 120
    • this will increase the period of time during the day that the display runs at 100% brightness
  2. Set green mode value to 100%
    • this will remove content dimming limits and allow the display to run at full brightness
  3. Up-calibration on the display is possible if display is still deemed too dim after these changes have been made and if it has been verified that the display is reaching 100% brightness when reported too dim however it is not recommended at this time
