How do I integrate MyLaps Orbits 4 with Motorsports Interface?

  • Components: MyLaps Orbits 4 SP2 Q1, If separate machines a Daktronics recommended MOXA U1110 serial adapter (A-2221)

Resolution

  1. Connect all serial connections first, Orbits only looks for the serial connection on startup, if it doesn't find it, it will be unavailable. Orbits also doesn't work with COM ports higher than 9.
  2. Open up MyLaps Orbits.
  3. Under Scoreboard -> Scoreboard Settings make note of the Host Information. Host information is what MyLaps is using to send its data over TCP. (MyLaps can use COM or TCP for data broadcast.)
  • Open up Motorsports Interface and run each setup to match the correct connection type (ie serial port if the two machines need to be connected) or TCP if using an Ethernet switch or router.
  • It should now work properly.
  • One thing to note is to match the baud rate.  It seems to work successfully with Orbits at 19200 (if no coms, try moving to 9600 baud).
