VLink 1500: How do I manually load content?

Resolution

NOTE: This device is not intended to play out content manually for long periods of time. The steps below should only be used when there is a problem with the incoming DVI signal and a message needs to be temporarily played to the display from the VLink 1500.
Prerequisites: You will need the following to complete these steps:
  • Venus 1500 V3.
  • Either a local connection to the display equipment, or remote access through the network.
  • VLink 1500 password (if set).
  • Size of the display in pixels.
  • VLink Management Studio (VLMS).
Create Display in Venus 1500:
  1. Open the Venus 1500 Administrator.
  2. Click Edit > Display Wizard.
  3. Select Manually create a display, click next.
  4. Select configuration:
    • Option 1: 
      1. Click the drop down under Select from existing configurations.
      2. Select the display size of the display you are working on, click next.
    • Option 2:
      1. Select Create a new configuration.
      2. Controller type: Version 3
      3. Product Family: GalaxyPro (LED)
      4. Enter the height and width of the display in pixels, click next.
  5. Select Create a new network resource, click next.
    1. Network Type: TCP/IP Networks, click next.
    2. Address: enter the public IP address for the display or the VLink's local IP address depending on how you are connecting.
    3. Socket: 3001 for primary side, 3003 for secondary side if site is a back to back, click next.
  6. Description: (The name of your display)
    • Address: 1
  7. Select time zone: Choose the correct time zone for where the display is located. Enable daylight savings time (DST) if applicable, click next.
  8. Select Finish, click next.
  9. Click Finish.
  10. Click No when prompted to import animations.
Create Message for Display:
  1. Obtain content for the display:
  2. Open the Venus 1500 Message Studio.
  3. Click File New.
  4. Choose the configuration for the sign being worked on, click OK.
  5. Navigate to Frame > Add Graphic.
    • Repeat this so that you have a graphic frame for each piece of content needing to be loaded.
    • Your first frame will be the text frame that was automatically created, right click the frame and delete it.
  6. Right click on the blank graphic frame and select Import Graphic(s).
  7. Browse to a piece of the customer's content, click Open.
  8. Click the Reset button to ensure the content fits the frame.
  9. Click Import.
    • If content is still sized too big for the window you will need to resize it, reference the article linked above in step 1.
  10. Repeat steps 6-9 until each frame has a piece of the content.
  11. Once all content has been imported, click the Properties button on the lower left of the message studio window.
    1. Duration: 8 seconds
    2. Under Copy Frame's Properties To...
      1. Range From:  1 to the number of the last frame
      2. Click Select All.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Navigate to File Save.
  14. Choose a folder from the right half of the window that pops up (typically default).
  15. Enter a file name in the box, click save.
Send Messages to the Display:
  1. Open the Venus 1500 Display Manager.
  2. Locate the display you are working on under Display List and double click it.
  3. Check the amount of free memory on the bar at the lower left corner.
    • If there is a lot of deleted files will need to run a memory cleanup:
    1. Right click the display from the display list, click Properties.
    2. Click Memory Cleanup.
    3. Click Start.
    4. Click Yes (this will take a few minutes to complete)
    5. Click Close after defragment is complete.
  4. Under the Available Messages column, click the + symbol next to DEFAULT.
  5. Right click the message file,  click Run.
    • This will send the content to the VLink and will take several minutes.
  6. When the content is finished loading, the message file will appear under the Running Messages column.
    • If any message files other than the one just sent are listed under running messages:
      1. Double click the other message to stop them from running.
      2. Transfer them to Stored Messages.
Starting Venus 1500 Content on the Display
  1. Connect to the VLink using VLink 1500 Management Studio.
  2. Navigate to the Tools tab in VLMS.
  3. In the Set Display Mode drop down, choose Venus 1500 Messages.
  4. Click Set.
  5. Verify content is playing on the display through the on-site webcam if one is available.
