Potential Symptoms

  •  The software will not connect to the OmniSport 2000 controller.
  •  The software program will generally lock up and require that [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete] be performed to end the process.
  • The symptoms above are noted even though COM 3 is not selected in the Options > Configure page

Environment

  • OmniSport Pro Swimming
  • OmniSport 2000 timer

Cause

  •  Some computers assume that comm port 3 is the on-board fax/modem port. This causes conflicts with the OmniSport Pro Swimming software.

Resolution

  1. Close the OmniSport Pro Swimming program.
  2. Go to Device Manager and "disable" the Modem in the computer.
  3. Navigate to and delete the PortCfg.dat" file.
    • WinXP follow this path: "C:\Program Files\Daktronics\OmniSport Pro\Swimming\".
    • Win Vista\7  follow this path: "C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\OmniSport Pro Swimming".
          • Navigate to and delete the "OS2000INT.cfg" file.
          • WinXP follow this path: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Daktronics\OmniSport Pro Swimming\"
          • Win Vista\7 follow this path: C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\OmniSport Pro Swimming
                • Open the OmniSport Pro Swimming program and change the port configuration to use a different comm port. Do NOT use comm port 3.
Note: If the operating system is Vista or Win 7, you may have to right-click the Pro Swimming shortcut icon and select "Run as Administrator" AFTER the above listed files have been deleted.

              Work Around

Possible solution for computers using USB-to-serial adaptors:
              1. Determine what comm port
              2. the customer is trying to use to connect to the OmniSport 2000 console. Right-click My Computer, select Manage then Device Manager and ensure that comm port
              3. exists.
              • Use another computer to set up the software to use that comm port number.
              • Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Daktronics\OmniSport Pro\Swimming\" and copy the "PortCfg.dat" file from YOUR computer to the same folder on the customer's computer, for a WinXP machine.
              • Open the software and it should now run without error.

                For Temporary Operation
