Galaxy (M2/M3 controller), Can not connect with Venus 1500 but can connect with M2Config utility

Potential Symptoms

  • Cannot connect to the display with Venus 1500 but can connect to the display using M2Config.
  • The address on the display (shows up as HW:(number)) is different than what is setup with the Venus software for hardware addressing.

  • Product Family: Message Displays
  • Product: AF-3150, AF-3160, AF-3165, AF-3180, AF-3190, AF-3197, AF-3200, AF-3220, AF-3400
  • Component: Electronic Message Center (EMC), Marquee, Readerboard, Electronic Message Board (EMB), Display; M2 & M3 controller based products
  • Control System: Venus 1500 v3 or v4

Cause

  • Hardware address of display doesn't match the sign configuration in the software.
    • Default address is 1 for both software and hardware.  Will need to be changed for setups with multiple primary displays that are chained in series to each other in order to work properly.
  • Or the computer's User Account Control setting is too high.

Resolution

  • Change the Venus 1500 software to match the address set to the controller.
  • Set the computer's User Account Control settings to the lowest setting of "Never Notify"
