SportSound; Interference/noise/drop-out with Wireless Microphone

Potential Symptoms

  • Interference/noise/drop-out through SportSound with wireless microphone.
  • Pop/drop out through speakers every 10 seconds or so while using wireless microphone(s).
  • Wireless microphones experiencing interference or weak signal.

Cause

  • There is another signal on the same frequency causing interference.

Resolution

  • First use a frequency finder to choose a frequency that is clear.
    1. Go to: Sure Wireless Frequency Finder
    2. Type the address of your location, choose your wireless series, and search
    3. Take note or the frequency (or open range) that you will be using.
  • Perform a ClearScan to find the best channel.
    1. Have all transmitting devices; the handheld microphone, and the body pack turned OFF.
    2. Start by scanning Channel.
    3. Press the (MENU) button 2 times, an arrow and the word ClearScan should be flashing.
    4. Press the (SET) button 2 times, the screen will read ClearScan with a status bar beneath it.
    5. The device will automatically select the clearest channel available.
    6. Pressing the (SET) button the first time will select the group.
    7. Pressing the (SET) button the second time selects the channel.
    8. Once your scan is complete and the group and channel are shown on the LCD display, turn on that channel's device and set it.
    9. Setup is done by pressing the (SET) button found under the battery cover.
    10. Select the proper group number using the (ARROWS) press (SET) to select.
    11. Select the proper channel number using the (ARROWS) press (SET) to select.
    12. Replace battery cover and leave unit ON to perform the ClearScan on Channel 2.
    13. Continue with the ClearScan of all other channels.
  • On the body packs set the RF transmit level to high.
    1. Press SET and DOWN at the same time (4 times) to display RF transmit level.
    2. Press SET and the level will flash.
    3. Use UP to set it at Hi.
    4. Press SET and DOWN at the same time once to return to the group and channel mode.

*ClearScan may not work in all situations, Which is why you will need to first manually choose frequencies that are not occupied by other users of the same band. Use the Sure Wireless Frequency Finder to help locate frequencies for your system that should be available to use.
