GPR/GP3/GP4, No communication with display, Display is setup to use a DHCP name and Venus software has a static IP listed.
Potential Symptoms
- Unable to get status back from the display.
- Not able to ping display using IP found in software.
- Display is setup to use a DHCP name, and Venus software has a static IP listed.
Environment
- GalaxyPro Revolution
- GPR, DMP-4060, GP3, GP4
- Electronic Message Center (EMC), Marquee, Electronic Message Board (EMB), Display
- M4 Controller based Product
- Venus 1500 V4
Cause
- Communication is lost when display power is cycled because the controller is leased a new IP address that is different from the static IP address in the software.
Resolution
- Setup the IP configuration properly.
- AutoDetect the display using M4Config or DisplayFinder utility to determine the displays DHCP name.
- Edit Venus 1500 to use the displays DHCP name rather than a static IP address. This will prevent communication loss the next time the displays IP changes.
- Verify communication has been restored to the display.
- Note: If the network setup does not support DHCP, may need to set a static IP to the controller and then set that static IP up in the Venus software. Refer to How to set the IP configuration on a GalaxyPro Revolution (GPR) display?, DD1994538.
