DMP: Unable to get audio to play out of DMP-8000, wrong audio device

Potential Symptoms

  • No audio from video files on dmp-8000 whether playing from through VNet software or playing file in Windows Media player on the DMP-8000.
  • Audio not muted when opening volume mixer (i.e. both VNet software and selected output device are not muted).
  • Confirmed AVI file has PCM uncompressed audio.

  • Product: DMP-8000

Cause

  • The computer does not have the correct output audio device selected.

Resolution

Option #1: Set the correct default audio device

  1. In the task tray in the bottom right, right-click on the Sound icon (little speaker).
  2. Select Playback Devices.
  3. Select the desired audio output device and right-click, then select Set as default communication device. 
    1. Typically will be an item that says Speakers that is just plain (in standard setups, the LTIBLOX is plugged into the green headphone jack that is directly on the motherboard.
    2. Select Blackmagic if coming off of the DeckLink breakout cable.
    3. If the device is not showing right-click somewhere in the window and select Show disabled devices. 

Option #2: Set the correct audio device manually

  1. Confirm the physical audio output connection. (ie SDI, headphones, speaker, etc.)
    • You can play test tones right from Windows Sounds to make sure that is working.
  2. Adjust the device in the DMP-8000 web UI to the correct one.
    • Configuration > Outputs > Output 1/2/3 > Audio Configuration > Device.
