Set AF-3500 series Galaxy display to use a DHCP name but now cannot connect to it over the network

Potential Symptoms

  • Galaxy display was set to a DHCP name but now cannot connect to it over the network.

Cause

  • DHCP name was set on display but it did not have the proper DNS addresses set.

Resolution

  1. Disconnect display from network and connect it directly to a computer.
  2. Set Local Area Network on computer to Auto Obtain an IP address.
  3. Reboot display and observe boot sequence for IP address which will start with 169.254....
  4. Connect to display using 169.254 address and set DHCP name using following article: DD2740376.
Note: It is suggested that the display be assigned a static IP within range of the network the display is going to be placed on. Please consult your IT/Networking Administrator for this information.
