Miami Trace High School in Washington Court House, Ohio, installed a video display in their new stadium for the quickly growing student body population. With so many available display providers, how did the Panthers decide on Daktronics?
“Part of the reason we chose Daktronics was that the overall package provided was the best bet for training because they manufacture what they sell, so the support is the best option available,” said David Lewis, Superintendent.
The addition of the display not only affected students on the field, but in the classroom, as well. “We were able to create video broadcasting classes for students to learn to run cameras for the board,” Lewis continued. “Getting them involved will grow the program throughout the years. It’s hands on, and kids like technology, so it’s a win-win for us.”
It takes several individuals working together to bring new video displays to schools. That’s where Daktronics Sports Marketing team comes into play. A DSM team member forms a funding plan with the school and shares tactics for securing sponsorships. That provides the opportunity for community members to step up and support the school by purchasing sponsor panels, showing school spirit while promoting their business.
“I think people would be surprised to learn how easy the process really is,” explained Lewis. “People see the video board and then look at the cost and say it’s not necessary. If you are willing to put the time and effort into it, people in your community will support you; you just have to find them.”
