How do I control Venus Control Suite schedules via Display Studio scripts?  multi-sign schedule on/off control with VCS, Show Control version 2.12 or later)

Some displays are able to be controlled in an interactive environment via Show Control or run a schedule from Venus Control Suite. It is best practice to communicate to the display which mode it is currently in, or which software it is being controlled by. Note that changing modes will blank the display until it's given direction from either a button click in Show Control or a playlist from Venus Control Suite.

From Display Studio, there are two ways to change a display's mode (Live or Scheduled): from within Service Configuration or from a button.

Using a Button: (Versions 2.11 or earlier)

  1. Create a Script button in Display Studio.
    1. Right click inside a Scripting Container, select New button.
    2. Click the + sign to Add a Line
    3. In step 1, choose DMP-8000 Player Control

    4. Step 2, choose a zone from the player/display you wish to change the mode of

    5. Step 3, choose Change Mode

    6. Step 4, choose the desired mode - Live for Show Control or Scheduled for Venus Control Suite scheduling

Best Practice: Be sure to make buttons to switch that display to be operating in either mode - Live or Scheduled. These buttons might be used pre-event to switch over to Interactive (Live) control from Show Control during the event and changed back to Scheduled mode to go back to the scheduled playlists after the event is over.

Using Service Configuration:

  1. Click on the Display Studio Hub in the upper left hand corner
  2. Hover over Properties, click on Service Configuration
  3. Double click the icon next to the display in the mode column showing Live or Scheduled to change the mode

NOTE:  For these options to be available, Venus Control Suite must have been chosen as the media server for the DMP-8000 player, and the Venus plugin with the proper Venus Control Suite login credentials must've been included in the install of Display Studio (Show Control).
