Content Studio: How do I configure custom media that shows Out-of-Town Scores via sport media RTD

Topic

  • How do you create MediaRTD for Out-of-Town-Scores in Content Studio?
  • I want to use graphics to indicate number of outs and runners on the base for out of town games. I'd also like to indicate whether those games are in the top or bottom of the inning using a graphic.
This article is meant to show you how to put Media RTD into use. Refer to Show Control System: How do I create content with sport media RTD fields?  .

Environment

  • Product: Content Studio
  • Component: Out-of-Town Data Studio
  • Control System: Show Control System (SCS)

Steps

Saving media

DMP-8000 Supported File Types:  VMPL, VMPF, AVI, BMP, JPG, JPEG, PNG, MPG, MPEG, and SWF
  • Images must stored in the MediaRTD folder, located under C:\Program Data\Daktronics\VNET4\Content\MediaRTD

DMP-7000, see Venus 7000: How to display bitmaps based on data fields?

Naming media

  • Images must match the same name as the RTD field it will be linked to.
  • Inning indicator data comes into the Daktronics system as the letters T and B. Therefore, the file for the top indicator should be T.png and B.png for the bottom indicator (since the data comes across the same for the In Game Data and Out of Town Data, your inning indicator arrows will be the same).
  • On base data comes into the Daktronics system as the letter X. Therefore, you will pull all three on base indicator RTD fields onto the field (diamond) graphic and use the same Media RTD file for all the on base indicators. The file should be named X.png
  • The out data comes into the Daktronics system as the letter O. Therefore, you will pull both out indicator RTD fields onto the background graphic and use the same Media RTD file for both outs. The file should be named O.png

Import the RTD Field

This example uses DakStats Baseball as an example. However, this feature can be used with other stat programs and sports that interface with Daktronics Show Control System

  1. Drag & drop the RTD field into your presentation.
  2. Check the "Is media RTD" checkbox.
  3. A popup window will open. Browse to the image you wish to associate with the RTD Field.
  4. When you select a file, you are not necessarily selecting the image that will always appear, rather a place holder that will allow you to properly place where you want the Media RTD to appear. The content that appears will depend on the naming of the files and the corresponding data.
What content studio RTD field to use:
  • Out-of-town Scores: Expanded - T.SWI4K.GAME1.TOP and BOTTOM INDICATOR (BMP) (Games 1-8 are available)
  • Out-of-town Scores: Expanded - T.SWI4K.GAME1 ON BASE 1-3 INDICATOR (BMP) (Games 1-8 are available)
  • Out-of-town Scores: Expanded - T.SWI4K.GAME1 OUT 1-2 INDICATOR (BMP) (Games 1-8 are available)
     11.png
  • What application the stat comes from:
    • Data Studio Baseball

Considerations

The top/bottom inning indicators are typically up/down triangles or dots that are a bright color that sit above or below the current inning on top of a solid-colored background.

On base indicators are brightly colored diamonds that are a different color than the baseball diamond and solid background they are displayed on.

Outs are typically shown as brightly colored dots or baseballs are used as the indicator. Outs on top of solid-colored backgrounds. Often times, place holders for Outs will be slightly grayed out or darkened to indicate where they will go.
