How to monitor the input on the DI-6000 via command lines

Topic

  • Is there a way to monitor the input on the DI-6000 for Rev 6?

Environment

  • Product Family: Display Interface
  • Product: DI-6000, Rev 6+
  • Components: PuTTy, KVP Tool (This tool provides a captured image from a selected incoming video source. )
  • Control System:

Steps

  1. Open PuTTY program.
NOTE: To log in, please reference How to log into DI-6000 or VP-6000 using PuTTY, DD3282244 on procedure to log in.
  2. Get to command bash (the main command entry screen after logging in).
  3. Type cd /tmp first to navigate to /tmp directory.
  4. Type kvptool imgxfer read
  5. It will display a description of the command options: kvptool imgxfer read {card=n} {channel=n} {width=n} {height=n} {file=s}:
    1. card - Which card to communicate with, this will be 1 with DI-6000's.
    2. channel - Which channel to communicate with. Check the post-misc.sh for configuration details on which channel to use.  It is based on the number of inputs and the how they are configured.
      1. 0 is processing pipe 0
      2. 1 is processing pipe 1
      3. 3 is channel feeding SDI monitor output (Future use)
      4. 6 is channel feeding DP monitor output (Future use)
    3. width - Image width, obtain exact value from configuration (see step 6 for instructions). Must match config exactly.
    4. height - Image height, obtain exact value from configuration (see step 6 for instructions). Must match config exactly.
    5. file - image file to create from device. This filename will be created in the current directory. /tmp is recommended (see step 3).
  6. Type in the full command with parameters.
    1. example: kvptool imgxfer read card=1 channel=0 width=308 height=122 file=/tmp/canvas.png
      • To find the height and width values, type cat /etc/kadoka/config/vpctld/2/config into the terminal.  Look for the Canvas layer for the Height and Width.  Use those height and width values for image capture.
      • Canvas1.png
      • Name the file something you can associate easily with the DI-6000, like putting the DI number and sign name in the name.                                For example: file=canvas.png
        • NOTE: The file will get overwritten if there is an existing file with that name.
  7. To view the image, use WinSCP to navigate to the /tmp folder.  Right click on the file and open (double-clicking will attempt to edit the file which is not recommend).

Note:  To use WinSCP follow the following article.   How to log into DI-6000 or VP-6000 using WinSCP

WinSCPCanvas.png

      • NOTE: SDI source image colors will not be correct in the screen grab, although they will be correct on the actual output.  This is because the color space conversion from YCbCr to RGB happens post memory, and the imgxfer captures the image from within memory.
      • Images will be deleted from the /tmp folder when the DI-6000 is power cycled.
*Note*
It's also possible to pull multiple images with a single command in sequence. The command is "kvptool imgxfer burst --card x --src x --burst # (max 32 min 2) --file /tmp/filename.png
