NovaStar: How do I configure the light sensor?

How to configure the light sensor for NovaStar controlled displays?

Environment

  • Product: Nova MCTRL 600, Nova MCTRL 660, NovaStar VX4S, NovaStar brand sender box and receiver  cards
  • Components: NovaLCT-Mars, light sensor, multi-function card, NovaLCT-Mars   
  • Control System: Market Standard or Limited Compliance using transmit common/open protocol
    • This includes but not limited to DVN-4003, Dragon Sticks, J Series, JVX, U Series, Q Series, QVN, Z Series, and ZPN.

Before Starting

  1. Configure the Sender Box - NovaStar: How do I configure a NovaLCT-Mars Sender Box?

Steps

Configure the Brightness preferences. 
  1. Click on the Brightness tile.

  2. Select Automatically Adjustment and then click the Wizard Settings button.
    1. TIP: Due to new chips on some new kinds of modules, it's recommended to use Manually Adjustment to change brightness to 100% before taking following steps. This would enable the Auto Adjustment function in the chip.

  4. Select Adjust by Light sensor and click Next.

  5. Check the box next to the connected light sensor to enable it.
  6. Adjust the default brightness percentage when light sensor fails, recommended 3%.
Brightness Mapping Table
  1. Choose the Fast Selection button.   
  2. For minimum, use 20 Lux = 3%. 
  3. For maximum, use 1200 Lux= 100%

Finish and Save
  1. Press Finish to save the settings.  This will close out the light sensor configuration.
  2. Press the Save button.  Then Close the brightness adjustment window.
