Montgomery Biscuits Choose Daktronics for Video Upgrades to Riverwalk Stadium

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Jan. 19, 2012 – Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT), in conjunction with the Montgomery Biscuits, announced today that the company has been chosen to provide state-of-the-art light emitting diode (LED) video upgrades to Riverwalk Stadium. Utilizing the latest in LED technology, the displays are scheduled to be complete prior to the 2012 Minor League Baseball season.

“Riverwalk Stadium has the reputation of being one of the top minor league parks in the country and we’re committed to keeping it that way for our fans and partners,” said Co-Owner Tom Dickson. “We recognize Daktronics as the premiere company in the industry and the perfect partner to help us bring a brand of entertainment that will be second-to-none not just in the River Region, but in all of Minor League Baseball.”

“The video board will make the fan experience so much more up-close and personal. We’ll now be able to offer great close-ups of the kids and families in the crowd and replays from multiple angles,” said Co-Owner Sherrie Myers. “The fence display adds even more, giving our fans stats and scores from around baseball among other opportunities.”

The most visible component of the new system will be a large-screen LED video display towering over the left-centerfield wall. Measuring approximately 30 feet high by 36 feet wide, the video display will be the largest in the Southern League and will offer superb clarity and contrast of video images with excellent viewing angles throughout the stadium. This technology and its control system allow for complete flexibility in programming. The video board can operate as an independent display showing single large images or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show a wide variety of statistics, information, graphics, animation and live and recorded video.

Incorporated into the left field wall will be Daktronics popular field-level display. At nearly 100 feet wide, the display will offer additional information and entertainment to fans. Daktronics fence displays provide full-color crowd prompts, advertisements, scores, statistics and video clips on an impact-resistant screen. These displays can also be used in a variety of ways to recognize and activate sponsors. The new fence display will be the first of its kind in the Southern League, one of only a handful in Minor League Baseball, and rival that of similar displays in Major League Baseball ballparks.

The Biscuits will also utilize Daktronics industry-leading data integration capabilities to instantly present up-to-the-minute scores, statistics, news and information.

Daktronics will provide creative digital content from opening animations and crowd prompts to player bios and sponsor animations. Daktronics Creative Services specialize in producing digital content for LED displays used in stadiums and arenas across the country.

Also included in the upgrade project is Daktronics new Show Control system. The company’s LED video processing system is touted as the best in the industry, processing and scaling live and recorded video signal to vivid digital imagery on large LED displays. The Show Control system is one of the latest developments from Daktronics, providing a power combination of control software, data integration, and playback hardware. For more on Show Control, visit

“These new displays will offer the highest quality video and provide a new level of excitement and game day experience that is among the best in Minor League Baseball”, said Glen Marts Daktronics Sales Representative. “We are excited to partner with the City of Montgomery and the Montgomery Biscuits for this significant upgrade.”
