Lafayette College to Excite Fans with New Daktronics Integrated LED Centerhung Display System
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sept. 12, 2013 – Daktronics (NASDAQ – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., is set to design, manufacture and install a new four-sided centerhung LED video display system inside Allan P. Kirby Sports Center at Lafayette College in Easton, Penn. The installation will be complete before the Leopards take the court again for the start of the 2013 season.
“We are very excited to partner with Daktronics on the installation of a new state-of-the-art video system for the Kirby Sports Center, which will significantly enhance the game-day experience for our fans,” said Bruce McCutcheon, Lafayette’s Director of Athletics. “The new LED displays will allow us to deliver the best in video content and interactive material that is sure to engage our students, alumni and fans.”
The four main video displays will each feature 10 millimeter line spacing and measure 5 feet high by more than 9 feet wide. They will be capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. They can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements.
Lighting up the sidelines, the university will receive four Daktronics LED scorer’s tables, each featuring 10 millimeter line spacing and measuring 3 feet high by 9 feet wide. These tables can be connected in any configuration to highlight sponsors throughout events and show additional statistics and game information.
The installation includes four standard fixed-digit scoreboards along with shot clocks and light strips. Daktronics video displays incorporate excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility to appeal to more fans at multiple locations throughout the venue.
“Daktronics is very proud to partner with Lafayette College on this exciting project,” said Scott Willson, Daktronics sales representative. “Our centerhung video display and LED scorer’s tables are part of a number of upgrades coming to the Kirby Sports Center that will have a major impact on the game-day experience for Lafayette’s fans, sponsors and student athletes. The entire staff at Lafayette has been a pleasure to work with from the initial design concepts through installation and training.”
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
