When using the Diagnostics Utility the databases show offline and when you try to connect error 'The Database is in single-user mode, and a user is currently connected to it.'

Symptom

  • When using the Nucleus Database Diagnostics Utility the databases show offline and when you click Repair, you get the following error:
    • An error occurred during database ope

      Changes to the state or options of database 'Nucleus log' cannot be made at this time. The database is in single-user mode, and a user is currently connected to it.
      ALTER DATABASE statement failed.
    • Login failed for user 'NT Authority\SYSTEM'.  Reason: Server is in single user mode.  Only one administrator can connect at this time.

Environment

  • Venus 1500 v4
  • SQL Server 2005

Cause

The database was switched to run in a single-user mode, and the Daktronics Nucleus SQL Database needs to run in Multi-User mode.

Resolution

Contact Daktronics Technical support for assistance. 

Work Around

Try restarting the computer (make all users logged out of the computer) and try the database utility again.
