Onsite Troubleshooting Steps

DB-1000 - DB-3000

  1. Is module(s) blank?
    • If yes, proceed to Step 2.
    • If no, skip ahead to Step 8.
  2. If receiving proper voltage, skip ahead to Step 8.
    • If not receiving proper voltage, proceed to Step 3.
  3. If not receiving power, proceed to Step 4.
    • If voltage is incorrect, proceed to Step 5.
  4. If voltage is correct, you will need to ensure continuity of wiring between breaker and power supply. Contact Daktronics or your service provider for assistance.
    • If voltage is incorrect or absent, proceed to Step 6.
    • If voltage is correct, you will need to ensure continuity of wiring between power entrance and breaker. Contact Daktronics or your service provider for assistance.
  5. If voltage is incorrect or absent, proceed to Step 7.
    • If voltage is correct, you will need to ensure continuity of wiring between power entrance on sign and main power entrance to display. Contact Daktronics or your service provider for assistance.
    • If voltage is incorrect or absent, issue is likely with incoming electrical service. Contact your power company/utilities provider.
  6. If issue follows, resolve as per Row of blank modules, bad module output, DD1988623.
    • If issue does not follow, proceed to Step 9.
  7. If issue does not follow, proceed to Step 10.
    • If issue does not follow, contact Daktronics or your service provider for further assistance.

DB-4100

  1. Is module(s) blank?
  2. Verify correct voltage is being received at the power supply for the module. (Typically 120 VAC +/- 5%)
    • If voltage is correct, skip ahead to Step 6.
    • If voltage is incorrect, proceed to Step 3.
  3. Test voltage at the breaker that supplies power to the affected area/module.
    • If voltage is correct, you will need to ensure continuity of wiring between breaker and power supply. Contact Daktronics or your service provider for assistance.
    • If voltage is incorrect or absent, proceed to Step 4.
  4. Test voltage at the power entrance on the sign.
    • If voltage is correct, you will need to ensure continuity of wiring between power entrance and breaker. Contact Daktronics or your service provider for assistance.
    • If voltage is incorrect or absent, proceed to Step 5.
  5. Test voltage at main power entrance to display.
    • If voltage is correct, you will need to ensure continuity of wiring between power entrance on sign and main power entrance to display. Contact Daktronics or your service provider for assistance
    • If voltage is incorrect or absent, issue is likely with incoming electrical service. Contact your power company/utilities provider.
  6. Is the green indicator light lit on the power supply?
  7. Complete a self-test on the module, note error on toe tag and return for repair. Refer to How to perform a self test on a PL5x series module, DD2045934 for instruction.
