Display Modules: Discolored Module/s Present on Market Standard Display

Potential Symptoms

  • display has a single discolored module.
  • Multiple discolored modules are present on the display.

Environment

  • Product:
  • Components: NovaStar Components
  • Control System: Market Standard using transmit common/open protocol
    • This includes but not limited to DVN-4003, Dragon sticks, J Series, U Series, Q Series, JVX, QVN-1000, and ZPN.

Cause

  • Bad ribbon cable
  • Bad module

Resolution

  1. Swap the ribbon cable connected to the input of the discolored module with a new spare or known working ribbon cable from elsewhere in the display.  If that doesn't resolve the issue reconnect the original ribbon cable and proceed to step #2.
  2. Swap the discolored module with a new spare or known working module from elsewhere in the display.  If that doesn't resolve the issue reconnect the original module and proceed to step #3.
  3. Complete steps listed in the resolution section of "DD3367619, Entire Section/s of Modules Discolored in a J or L Series Display".  If that doesn't resolve the issue proceed to step #4.
  4. Contact Daktronics Technical Support.
Avoid exposing the contents of the power/signal box to moisture.
