Steps

To reuse your Venus 1500 v4 content in Venus Control Suite, please follow the instructions in this video:

Manually Configure a Mock Daktronics Display.

  1. Launch Venus 1500 V4 by following How do I open / launch the Venus 1500 V4 Software? DD300947.
  2. Click the Orange V application menu and click Configure > Displays.
  3. Click Add Display.
  4. Click Cancel to stop the auto discovery process because Venus 1500 V4 will not control a GS6 display.
  5. Click My display is not in the list at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Click I want to manually create a display.
  7. For Product Family, select Daktronics Display.
  8. Type in the Height and Width of your display.
  9. Choose the correct Player (DMP-8000).
  10. Choose the correct Color Depth.
  11. Click Continue.
  12. Type the word "Test" as a DNS or IP Address. Leave the remaining configuration as default.
    • To avoid communication problems, do not type the actual DNS or IP Address in because we do not want to cause communication confusion or communication interference between the two Venus operating systems and their displays.
  13. Type a Display Name, click Continue.
  14. Select proper display Time Zone and DST, click Continue.
  15. Click No when asked 'Would you like to create another display of the same type?'.
  16. Review Summary of display settings, click Finish.
  17. Click Yes to the Prompt to start downloading the Media kit, or click No and follow How do I download the Venus 1500 v4 Media Kit?, DD1986681 on how to download Media Kit at a later time.
  18. Return to the Display Management window to repeat the above steps to create additional displays of different sizes if necessary.
  19. Close Display Management window when finished.

Note:  Manual display creation is necessary as the display will have no current connection to the Venus 1500 V4 software because it will be operating through Venus Control Suite. 

Launch Content Studio for content creation.

  1. Select the GC6/GS6 display from the Select a Display dropdown.
  2. Click the Content Tab.
  3. Click Create to launch the Daktronics Content Studio.
  4. Click on the button for TEXT BOX, then click and drag to size in the black box (Layout) with the yellow border. (can resize the text box after typing your message if needed)
  5. Create the desired message.
    • Make sure the text box stays within the yellow border or the text will appear cut off on the display.
  6. Save content externally (see below section).
  7. Repeat above section to create additional presentations if needed.
 

Saving Venus 1500 V4 Presentations Externally.

  1. Once the presentation is ready to be saved, click on the Application Menu (Orange V) in the upper left corner.
  2. Click Save As.
  3. Select external location to save your message under System on the left side of the Save As window.
  4. If you are saving the file within a folder, select the folder.
  5. Give your message a name in the File Name field at the bottom.
  6. Make sure File Type is VMPF Files.
  7. Click Save.

Note:  Presentations previously created in the Venus 1500 V4 version of Content Studio for a Galaxy, Galaxy Pro, or DVX display, with animations and data fields such as Time or Temperature, may not animate properly when converted to use in Venus Control Suite.

Upload and Tag VMPF (Content Studio) Files in Venus Control Suite.

  1. Log in to Venus Control Suite using the provided username and password. Once your dashboard appears, click on the menu (three horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
  2. Select the Media tab from the Venus Control Suite menu.
  3. Select the blue Upload button.
  4. Drag and drop VMPF files into the uploader or browse for files saved on the user's computer by clicking "click here to upload."
  5. Tag media within the uploader by selecting all of the files at once and apply the same tag(s) or select individual files for separate tag(s). Users may also associate content with accounts using the uploader.
    • Tip: Click the Tag button in front of a piece of content to quickly apply a tag.
  6. To tag all files in the uploader at once, place a check mark in the box next to the thumbnail and click Tag Selected Items button or click the Associate Selected Items button to associate content with an account.
  7. To tag individual items, click the Manage Tag button.
  8. Type in a new tag and click + to add the tag. To add an existing tag, click on the desired tag button. When tag(s) are applied, click Close.
  9. The Venus Control Suite uploader will appear, click Finish after all files have been tagged.

Schedule Files in Venus Control Suite.

  1. Select the Playlists tab from the Venus Control Suite menu. 
  2. Select the blue Add New button to create a new playlist or click on an existing playlist to edit.
  3. Under Playlist Details, click Edit.
  4. Under Title, enter in a Playlist Name.
  5. Enter in Start and End Dates.
  6. Select the Days of the Week (The blue dot represents the days the playlist will run).
  7. Select the Start and End Times.
  8. Select desired Playlist Mode.
  9. Click Save to return to playlists page.
  10. Under Playlist Files, click Edit.
  11. Choose the files you want to add to this playlist by selecting the + button in front of each file.
  12. Click Save to return to playlists page.
  13. Under Displays, click Edit.
  14. Select the desired display and click Save.
  15. The playlist has now been sent to the display.
