DakTennis v3: TOD will not stay on a scoreboard

Potential Symptoms

  • Time of Day will display on the scoreboard during normal game operations.
  • When the computer or software is shut off, the whole scoreboard blanks.

  • Product: Tennis Scoreboard
  • Component: TOD enabled tennis scoreboard (AD20) w/ TOD protocol plug installed
  • Control System: DakTennis software

Cause

  • The current loop signal needs to be disconnected from the board prior to shutting down the software in order for the TOD to remain stored in the controller.

Resolution

  • Install a toggle switch to cut the current loop out to the board. Then follow these shut down procedures:
    1. Toggle scoreboard output to OFF.
    2. Shutdown software.
    3. Shutdown computer.
    4. Shutdown rack (if applicable).
    5. Toggle scoreboard output to ON.

For Temporary Operation

  1. If a toggle switch is not available, they can attempt the following:
    • Unplug power to the silver bullet signal converter.
      • Ex. Put the silver bullet on its own power strip.
    • Unplug signal to or from the silver bullet signal converter.
    • Unplug the USB/serial adapter.
  2. Any of the above steps lised above need to be performed prior to closing the DakTennis software.
