How do I see what address a scoreboard has when not showing on boot up?

Topic

  • How do I see what address a scoreboard has when it doesn't display on boot up?
  • How do I see what output location that my digits are plugged into on my scoreboard without having to open up the scoreboard to check connections on the driver itself?
  • Digit designations on the scoreboards?
  • Digit output designation using Test Console mode.

Environment

  • Product: Scoreboard
  • Component:
  • Control System: All Sport 5000

Steps

Some scoreboards will not display their address during boot up due to their digit designation.

There is a way to determine if a scoreboard had the correct address without having to open up the display and access the driver.  This is also helpful as you don't have to cycle power to the scoreboard to confirm it has the right address.

  1. Put the All Sport into "Test Console" mode code 0001 as detailed in What are the all on or test codes for the All Sport consoles, DD2128469.
  2. Select "Address Test" when using the Test Console insert (LL-2272).
    • This is the bottom right hand button ( SPACE ) button if insert is not available.
    • For All Sport 5500 consoles remove the insert and press the ( - ) button on the keypad.
  3. Enter the address that the scoreboard should be set to and hit "Enter".
  4. The All Sport should now be displaying "testing" on the LCD screen.
    • When address test is started using correct driver address the scoreboard's driver section will display that address information, followed immediately by the driver output number/digit designations on the scoreboards.
      • If addressing is incorrect, scoreboard driver section will stay blank.

Note: This may not work on All Sport Versions 1.5.5 Released 23 October 2002 or earlier.
