Tulane University Adds Daktronics Video Display System to Power Green Wave Football Fans
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Mar. 25, 2014 – Tulane University will add a new video display system that will be designed, manufactured and installed by Daktronics Inc. (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D. The integrated system will give Green Wave fans even more to cheer about when their football team opens the 2014 season at their new home, Yulman Stadium, in New Orleans, La.
"Tulane has been very pleased in working with Daktronics and the capabilities their scoreboard system will offer," said Jim Alty, vice president of facilities management and campus development at Tulane University. "The scoreboard should not only provide state-of-the-art viewing for fans, but also enhance other events planned for Yulman Stadium."
The main video display located in the south end zone will feature a 15HD pixel layout and will measure approximately 20 feet high by 95 feet wide. It will incorporate excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility while providing multiple levels of protection from the elements.
The display contains all the versatility expected of today's technology. It is capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. It can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements.
The installation also includes two ribbon displays along the seating fascia that measure approximately 4 feet high by 128 feet wide and another ribbon display measuring approximately 4 feet high by 25 feet wide. All ribbon displays feature 20 millimeter line spacing and provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information. The smaller ribbon display will be focused on providing closed captioning for every game.
To aid in controlling these new displays, Daktronics will also be including its powerful, easy-to-use Show Control System with this installation. This industry-leading system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution.
