Southern University Adds Daktronics Video Display to Stadium

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sept. 3, 2014 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with Southern University and A&M College (SU) and the SU System Foundation to install a new LED video display at A. W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for Jaguars football games. The October slated installation will feature the latest in LED technology.

"We're thrilled about this partnership opportunity with Daktronics and the SU System Foundation, and about continuing to enhance the fan experience for Jaguars football," said Southern University Director of Athletics William Broussard.

"We greatly value our partnership with the Baton Rouge Coca-Cola bottling company, our title sponsor for the new scoreboard project, and the opportunity to provide the athletic department with a state-of-the-art scoreboard that will allow our fans and athletic program to benefit from the latest technology in the industry," said Alfred E. Harrell III, executive director of the Southern University System Foundation.

The display features a 15HD pixel layout to provide excellent image clarity and contrast to live video and replays. The display measures 18 feet high by 48 feet wide and, aside from showing full video, can also be sectioned into different windows to highlight graphics, animations, sponsor messages, statistics and other game information.

As an outdoor display, it provides multiple level of protection from the elements. It also features wide angle visibility to appeal to every fan seated in the stadium.

In addition to the video display, Southern University also received a bank of hours to be used for the creation of display content. Daktronics Creative Services will produce and deliver the content at the university's request. An LED retrofit to the existing translucent scoreboard and an eight-input HD switcher complete the installation.

"It's great to be able to partner with Southern University on these stadium enhancements," said Andrew Rice, Daktronics sales representative. "The new display will greatly enhance the game-day experience for players and fans, and it will be exciting to see the display in action this fall."

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
