Georgia Southern Upgrades Video and Audio at Campus Facilities

Daktronics installs equipment for football, basketball, volleyball and tennis

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Dec. 1, 2014 – Daktronics Inc. (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., has partnered with Georgia Southern University to design, manufacture and install video, scoring and audio equipment for Allen E. Paulson Stadium, Hanner Fieldhouse and Hanner Tennis Complex on campus in Statesboro, Georgia.

The highlight of the installation is the uniquely-shaped video display installed at the Allen E. Paulson Stadium for football. When Eagles fans returned this fall, they were greeted by an oval-shaped display, rounded on top and bottom with straight sides, which measures approximately 24 feet high by 38 feet wide. The display features a 15HD pixel layout to provide clear and crisp imagery with wide angle visibility to everyone in the stadium. Containing roughly 525,000 individual LEDs, the display provides approximately 852 square feet of active display area.

The display is capable of highlighting live video and instant replays across the entire viewing space or it can be divided into multiple smaller windows to show a variety of graphics, animations, statistics, game information and sponsor advertisements. For more specifics on the display, check out "By the Numbers" by clicking here.

Accompanying the video display, the stadium also received a fixed-digit scoreboard to provide standard football statistics during the game and a Daktronics audio system that is integrated into the video and scoring system. The audio system will provide a powerful audio experience for fans in the form of full-range sound reproduction and clear audible speech from announcers.

"We're honored to further enhance the game-day atmosphere and build on the traditions of Georgia Southern Athletics with this new equipment installation," said Glen Marts, Daktronics sales. "These upgrades along with other improvements to Paulson Stadium will make for some very exciting Saturdays in Statesboro as the university opened their inaugural season as members of the Sun Belt Conference."

Hanner Fieldhouse received three LED scorer's tables that will be positioned along the side of the court to provide the opportunity for additional sponsorship features and can include supplemental statistics and scoring information.

Also added on campus, Hanner Tennis Complex received a fixed-digit scoreboard for tennis events that will keep viewers informed of match information and statistics. It features an additional advertising panel to give visibility to sponsors at these events as well.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
