How do I start/restart or stop the Daktronics Fusion and Nucleus Server and SQL Server (NUCLEUS)

Question

  • How do I manually start/restart or stop the Daktronics Fusion and Nucleus Server and SQL Server?
  • Receiving Nucleus Error when launching Venus 1500 v4. Also may see User name and Password prompt after clicking 'Ok' to one of the various errors that appear.
  • Nucleus Error: May appear in any random order.
    • Nucleus Service failed to load.
    • Nucleus Server not running.
    • Nucleus Service not running.
    • Nucleus Service could not be started.
    • An error occurred while logging in.
    • An error occurred while logging in. The server computer is not accessible.
    • An error occurred while logging in: credential store is not accessible. Ensure that the SQL Server (Nucleus) service is running.
    • An error occurred while logging in. The service is still loading or not running.
    • An error occurred while logging in. There was no endpoint listening at .netpipe
    • Unable to connect to display server.

  • Venus 1500 v4
  • Daktronics Fusion
  • Daktronics Nucleus
  • SQL Server (Nucleus)

Instructions

You may receive random Nucleus Server failed to load, or failed to start errors when launching Venus 1500 v4, Show Control Systems or Vanguard. The most common resolution to these start up errors is starting, restarting or stopping and then starting the services.

Windows XP
  1. Go to Windows Start Menu -> Run -> Type services.msc, click Ok.
    • If run is not an option, right-click on My Computer, choose Manage
    • Go to Services & Applications -> Services.
  2. Locate the following services in the following order:
    1. SQL Server (NUCLEUS)
    2. Daktronics Fusion (Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater only)
    3. Daktronics Nucleus Server
  3. Right-click and choose Start/Restart or Stop on each service listed in order.
  4. Try launching Venus 1500 v4, Show Control Systems or Vanguard.
    • Please make sure both services are set to Automatic for Start up type.
Windows Vista or 7
  1. Go to Windows Start Menu.
  2. In the bottom search bar type: Services
    • Services will filter into the Windows Start Menu.
  3. Click on Services with the gears in front.
  4. Locate the following services in the following order:
    1. SQL Server (NUCLEUS).
    2. Daktronics Fusion (Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater only)
    3. Daktronics Nucleus Server
  5. Right-click and choose Start/Restart or Stop on each service listed in order.
  6. Try launching Venus 1500 v4, Show Control Systems or Vanguard.
    • Please make sure both services are set to Automatic for Start up type.

Windows 8 (No classic Windows Start Menu)

  1. Hover mouse on the right side of the desktop, click on the Magnifying Glass icon.
  2. Type services.msc in the search box and hit [enter].
  3. Locate the following services in the following order:
    1. SQL Server (NUCLEUS).
    2. Daktronics Fusion (Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater only)
    3. Daktronics Nucleus Server
  4. Right-click and choose Start/Restart or Stop on each service listed in order.
  5. Try launching Venus 1500 v4, Show Control Systems or Vanguard.
    • Please make sure both services are set to Automatic for Start up type.
